Hi Kotikkk, you had asked me about the seasons of tornados. I was mentioning that tornados can happen at most any time during the year. There is not a season that can't have a tornado in it whether it's winter,fall,spring, or summer. There have been tornados in the winter time as well as any other season. It just depends on the weather. For example, here in SC if there are a few warm days in the middle of winter or if there is some sort of weird weather pattern happening; then, tornados can be possible in winter. The same thing can happen in spring,summer, and fall too. It just depends on the weather patterns. For hurricanes- it's a little different. Snow here in SC doesn't happen very often even in the winter. We might get a little sprinkle of snow in the winter and then it melts away quickly. Nice thought though. With the hot weather we've been having; the thought of a little bit of snow is nice. Posted on: 08/28/08 19:44

Hi Kotikkk, well, tornados can happen most any time of the year. It mostly depends on the air mass and whether there is a cold air mass that is also contrasting with a hot air mass. That causes a big disturbance in the air and causes tornadic type weather. That's also why hurricanes can be more dangerous. The outer bands of the hurricanes can also cause a lot of terrantial rains and tornados depending on the air mass. Even a tropical storm can cause a tornado if the cold and hot air masses are contrasting to one another as well. Posted on: 08/27/08 11:56
